Relive the history of the 'Mother City' on a leisurely walk through the city's most significant historic landmarks, dating back to the 17th century.
Your tour begins on the Foreshore, where a Dutch commander stepped ashore in 1652 and set the course of South African history. From there, we cross the Grand Parade to the Castle of Good Hope - the oldest surviving building in South Africa - before confronting the raw, moving story of apartheid at the District Six Museum and pausing at the presidential residence of De Tuynhuys.
Strolling the oak-lined Government Avenue, you'll pass through the historic Company Gardens, past Parliament, under the 'Arch' and the haunting Old Slave Lodge. The tour then winds through the vibrant energy of Long Street, into the colourful Bo-Kaap - where painted houses celebrate the abolition of slavery - before ending on the cobblestones of Greenmarket Square.
